Running at a loss to 6x return on ad spend (and growing)

George & Willy needed to increase their profitability through their social advertising and fast! They were making sales, which was great! They knew their products were in demand – but they needed help finding the right people to buy.

You see, they were spending far too much to make a sale, which was eating into the profit margin, and meaning they were running at a loss.

They weren’t able to re-invest funds into the business to help grow, and had 3 months before closing the business.

Solution

Our first solution was to focus purely on ROAS. We turned off every campaign that was running so we could start from scratch again. We deployed dynamic ads and general retargeting as our first measure and split out the dynamic ads based on their top 5 converting countries then combining the rest of the countries into one group. We achieved a high return but we needed to start sending traffic to the site.

From here, we deployed 3 groups of ads, 2 general conversion ads with one campaign focusing on the highest returning countries and a global campaign, we then created a campaign for each of their product lines and used lookalikes from sales of each product to maximise the top of funnel traffic returns.

In their second month, we managed to keep a steady figure and achieved a 6.05x return on ad spend which was a 97% increase.

Although the volume of sales was reduced, they are now in a position to scale once more while we work on maintaining their return in the coming months.
